Enterprise D
Last Updated April 2009

I don't usually choose to build models with Construx. I find that the pieces are more conducive to building large playsets that require less precise detail. However, I haven't had the heart to tear down any of my most recent projects, which leaves me with precious few parts to build anything else. I actually first designed this model almost 20 years ago, when I was a young boy obsessed with Star Trek. Now, as an older boy obsessed with Star Trek, I felt like bringing it back.

As fun as this project was to create (both the first and second time), it does reveal the limitations of working with Construx. They aren't designed to capture miniature details. You get the basic impression of the Enterprise D, here, but much of the subtle width and curvature is lost.

I think the view from the rear is my favorite.
